transform your life with your dog

I help people and their dogs learn how to work as a team and resolve the challenges that they are facing together

Based in Yamba, NSW, Australia. Providing a Dog Training and Behavioural Modification Service to the Clarence Valley and Northern Rivers area

has training your dog become overwhelming?

does your dog’s behaviour frustrate you?

Does the thought of taking your dog for a walk make you feel stressed?

are you tired of your dog’s selective listening?

Do you want to feel confident taking your dog out in public?

I’ve been where you are and so have many of my clients. The emotional roller coaster of attempting to work through the problems that you are having with your dog is hard to put into words. One day everything seems fine, you feel like things are working, progress has been made, but then unexplainably everything falls apart and you are left wondering whether it’s even worth trying. Not to mention all of the confusion from conflicting advice online and from other trainers. There is a way forward. You can do this. You just need the right help.

Testimonials

“Shayde helped with my dog Rusty when I was feeling pretty lost and had tried everything. He did a Board and Train with Rusty for a month while teaching me the new methods so the handover back to me would stick. Rusty came back a different dog and could enjoy being off leash at the park or beach with a reliable recall and no reactivity at all to his usual triggers like dogs and loud cars. I was then able to enjoy my funny Border Collie and now that he is now enjoying his life too and not stressed about the world. My relationship with my dog is better for it, would highly recommend working with Shayde, he is all you could ask for!”

— Callum

“I would 100% recommend Shayde. Shayde has extensive knowledge in Dog behaviour and is more than happy to pass this on. My golden retriever Leo has extreme noise sensitivity and anxiety, to the point we were unable to leave our house. Through Shayde’s training we are able to venture out to nearly everywhere we like to go.”

— Jeanette

“Shayde has been an absolute lifesaver for myself and my beautiful black lab Floyd. I initially contacted Shayde to get some help and guidance with Floyd’s unpredictable reactivity towards certain dogs, scooters and skateboards. Floyd’s strength and lunging was making it dangerous for me to walk him and he was scaring people in public. Over the last 6 months through social dog walks, videos, Facebook posts, a couple of training sessions and written cue cards Shayde has taught me how to control Floyd’s behaviour with the use of command words and play.

My anxiety has decreased, my confidence has increased and my bond with Floyd has strengthened.

Floyd now looks to me for guidance and reassurance and our long walks around Yamba have become joyful again, not stressful. I highly recommend Shayde”

how to work together

“I can’t say enough great things about Shayde and the incredible work he did with my girl, Moo. From the very first session, it was clear that he genuinely cares about dogs and is passionate about helping them (and their humans!) succeed.” - Tess

Training Methods

I primarily teach in a Play based system as a way to build the foundations and life skills for working through behavioural issues.

The training methods that I teach incorporate both rewards based and aversive approaches. This includes training tools if necessary.

I prioritise changing your dog’s emotional state and I pride myself on producing happy and confident dogs that are not afraid to show their true personality.

I believe in letting dogs be dogs by respecting their inherent genetic traits and understanding the behaviours that come with those traits.

My core philosophy as a trainer is to allow dogs the autonomy and freedom to make choices for themselves and to provide clarity by teaching them that there are both positive and negative consequences for their choices.

I am not a quick fix trainer. I don’t offer band aid solutions. I focus on addressing the core issues that are driving your dog’s behaviour to create change and allow the dog’s to live happy and fulfilling lives with their families.
